Cosmetic dentistry involves creating smiles that are beautiful and natural looking. To perform fine cosmetic dentistry, a dentist must take extensive post-graduate training, as well as have an expert eye for detail.

One organization that has established itself in the world of cosmetic dentistry is the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The AACD annual meetings draw the top speakers and experts in cosmetic dentistry in the world. This organization has set up stringent guidelines to test dentists on their skills and knowledge in this field. To become an accredited member of the AACD, a dentist must pass a difficult review process of cases he has completed. The dentist must also pass oral and written examinations that test their knowledge of materials, techniques, and the latest research.

There are only about two hundred dentists worldwide who have passed this process and been given the special status of Accredited Member of the AACD. There are only five dentists in the state of North Carolina who hold this status. You can visit the web page of the AACD at www.AACD.org for more information, and to view each state's accredited members.
